SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS

Software Requirements is a key business focus area for Softoolabs. We have established that there are many problems associated with requirements engineering, including problems in defining the system scope, problems in fostering understanding among the different communities affected by the development of a given system, and problems in dealing with the volatile nature of requirements. These problems may lead to poor requirements and the cancellation of system development, or else the development of a system that is later judged unsatisfactory or unacceptable, has high maintenance costs, or undergoes frequent changes. By improving requirements elicitation, the requirements engineering process can be improved, resulting in enhanced system requirements and potentially a much better system.

We are experienced in using the latest techniques such as Behaviour Engineering to determine whether software and system requirements are consistent and unambiguously defined. Our aim when producing requirements specifications is to ensure software developers and systems engineers build with ease.

Wesley Acworth
Founder


Wesley Acworth is a Software Engineer with First Class Honours from Griffith University in Brisbane and is currently a PhD Candidate and Sessional Lecturer at this institution. His research interests cover Software Process Improvement (SPI) and Automated Support for the Personal Software Process (PSP), including the creation of the Personal Measurement Process. He has had over 20 years of industry experience focussing on Enterprise Software Security, Enterprise Architecture (EA), Business Process Management (BPM), Change Management, Software Engineering and Process Improvement in a wide range of companies including EMC formally RSA Security, NSW Health, Education Queensland and Powerlink Queensland.

Through his Enterprise Architecture experience, Wesley is a member of the e-Gov Architecture Expert Council for the Ministry of Communication with the Government of Kazakhstan. He is also a qualified SPICE and CMMi Assessor and has conducted appraisals on a number of organisations including the Queensland Government and the Australian Department of Defence (DOD).

He has successfully completed the Personal Software Process (PSP) course at Griffith University and consulted with students and industry professionals on using the PSP. In addition, Wesley has published recognised work on the representation of an individual Software Engineer's Personal Measurement Process at defined levels, which has been well regarded by industry professionals internationally. He is also a Member of the Institute of Engineers Australia.

Wesley is a founder of Temando, a world leading Delivery Management Platform which each year, helps over 40,000 clients deliver to millions of customers around the world. Temando employs approximately 150 staff throughout Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, United States of America and Singapore offices.

David Miani
Software Engineer

BEng SoftEng, MIEAust


David Miani is a talented Software Engineer with a Bachelor of Engineering in Software Engineering degree graduating in 2005 and has a Masters of Business in Applied Finance graduating in 2014.He currently works in Enterprise Architecture with NSW Health and Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal. He has completed the Personal Software Process (PSP) course at Griffith University, and has received training using the Team Software Process (TSP). David is also skilled in the use of Agile software development methodologies. He is competent in various programming languages such as C#, Java, Ruby, C++ and PHP, as well as web based languages HTML, CSS and Javascript. David has experience in the usage and adminstration of Linux and Windows Server based systems. He is also a competent mobile application developer using technolgies such as Andriod/IOS, Xamarin, Ionic, Node.js and ASP.net MVC and WPF. David is also a Member of the Institute of Engineers Australia.

Vinura Palihakkara
Requirements Engineer

Vinura Palihakkara has completed a Bachelor of Information Technology in 2008. His skills include a wide range of development languages and software engineering including Microsoft TFS and .NET technologies. He applies a professional approach to his work, completing projects on time and within budget.

Vinura is multilingual speaking Sinhalese and English fluently. With ability and determination, Vinura is well equipped to succeed in the most demanding environments.

Charles Tarel
Enterprise Architect

MIT, MBA


With a Masters in Software Engineering and Business Administration (MBA), Charles Tarel has extensive knowledge and experience in the Software Engineering and business professions. This combination of qualifications gives him a unique insight into architectural, business and development problems.

After completing a Master of Information Technology (MIT) in Europe, and working widely in the field within France and China, he decided to move to Australia to pursue his studies further at Griffith University.

During his professional career he has worked in many roles including as a Software Developer, Systems Administrator, Project Manager, Requirements Analyst and Solution/Enterprise Architect. His varied experience in the many different aspects of software development processes means he has a broad understanding of techniques and technologies.

When these skills are applied to problem solving, it allows Charles to deliver a solid and robust solution to complex projects.
